milton nascimento songbook pdf

If you're not familiar with Milton Nascimento, then you're missing out on one the great composers of Brazilian music. A singer, songwriter, guitarist and producer, Milton Nascimento is one of Brazil's undisputed legends. He has been a recipient of countless honors and awards over the years, having been named "best singer" twice by the Brazilian edition of Rolling Stone magazine. The former President of Brazil, Fernando Henrique Cardoso, called him “the best singer in the world. ” Latin American super star, Juanes, called him “the greatest voice in Latin America.” The list goes on and on… Nascimento has received numerous awards and honors, including Grammy Awards for his albums "Simplesmente João" (Simply João) (2013) and “Obrigado” (Thank You) (2006). He has received the Order of Rio Branco bestowed by the President of Brazil; the country's most prestigious honor; several times; as well as many other honours. His last collection of songs was released in 2015, titled “Homem Nascido em Porangaba” (Born in Porangaba). Nascimento is widely respected in Brazil and around the world for his songs of great artistic quality. The repertoire of Milton Nascimento is of great value to any student who wishes to sing from this iconic artist. The collection includes many songs written in Portuguese, but also include songs from Portuguese-speaking countries such as Haiti, Cape Verde, Angola and Mozambique, which gives a unique swing to the repertoire. In addition, there are good quantities of Brazilian music classics in this collection which will allow you to learn how to sing Brazilian music in a balanced manner with a good number of medley’s and duets. The following is a list of works that are included in the Nascimento Songbook. I have excluded all non-Brazilian songs except for a few songs from his first album released in 1969, which is included. Also, I have left out any songs that were not originally written by Milton Nascimento – thus, giving a cleaner and more focused list – but please note that there are many good quality songs from Portugal not included. Lyrics: This songbook is designed to give you a good start on preparing for your first Brazilian Portuguese lessons. eccc085e13
